John Deere picks up part ownership of Iowa company Hagie Manufacturing
An Iowa manufacturing company is merging with John Deere.
Over the course of about 15 months, John Deere will be taking most of the ownership over Hagie Manufacturing, which produces sprayers in Clarion, Iowa, according to a statement from Global Public Relations Director Ken Golden. Hagie Manufacturing will keep its name, stay where it is in Clarion, Iowa, and will keep making sprayers, but will be integrating into John Deere’s global distribution channel, Golden said. The CEO of Hagie hopes that by joining John Deere, the company will reach more customers. “This partnership with Deere allows our solutions to reach customers on a global scale and ensure they are supported with the world-class Deere dealer organization,” said CEO Alan Hagie. In turn, John Deere will be able to offer a wider range of products. “High-clearance spraying equipment is a new market for Deere,” said Deere’s President, Agricultural Solutions & Chief Information Officer, John May. “The expertise at Hagie allows John Deere to immediately serve customers who need precision solutions that extend their window for applying nutrients.” Hagie Manufacturing has been around since 1947.
